Analog’s 10/10 Anti-Sybil Strategy
“We CaN’t InTeGrAtE StRiCt AnTi-BoTtIng bEfOrE TGE. We don’t want our users to know our airdrop criteria just yet.”
– said almost everyone ever (except Analog. They’re smart.)
Analog took a bold route by integrating Proof of Humanity quite early in their journey. And while we won’t bore you with endless reasons why transparency is cool, let’s show you why Analog’s approach is legit with real results. This exercise will make two things clear:
Intract PoH is super customizable and goes way beyond a task on your quests.
Analog’s integration of PoH at the testnet stage was a master move (17354 users verified as real humans, no cap).
P.S. This is part of the Intract PoH blog series. If you’re not yet caught up on our thoughts behind building the use case first identity protocol, you might want to check out this blog for context.
Analog: Who Are These Guys?
Analog is a suite of interoperability protocols built on the Substrate SDK. It’s designed to be a one-stop shop for multi-chain and cross-chain solutions, addressing native dApp development needs. At the core of Analog lies the Timechain—a decentralized, permissionless, and Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) secured ledger ensuring accountability for all Analog network activities.
Analog’s protocols include:
Analog GMP: A messaging protocol for cross-chain dApps. It enables users to send arbitrary data, tokens, and initiate actions across blockchains.
Analog Watch: A developer-friendly protocol for deploying and querying on-chain data. It provides custom APIs to quickly organize and access indexed information.
Analog PoH: The User Experience
When I hit Analog’s incentive dashboard, I saw a neat layout prompting me to prove I’m human upfront rather than relying on third-party sybil detectors in the endgame. It felt good to know that only actual humans—like me—would be rewarded, not some kid with a bot army.
Clicking “Verify” took me to Intract’s PoH platform, which offered a step-by-step guide to claim medallions and explained how they work. Here’s the breakdown:
The Medallion System
Four medallions to score:
Android
Humanoid
Cyborg
Human
Humanity Levels:
0-89% Human: Definitely a bot.
90% Human: More than just a bot.
99% Human: Almost human.
100% Human: The humannest human onchain.
Medallion Conversion:
1 Humanoid or 3 Androids = 90% Human.
1 Cyborg or 3 Humanoids = 99% Human.
1 Human or 3 Cyborgs = 100% Human.
How Do You Earn Medallions?
Categories for Humanity Points:
Social Verification:
Metrics: Discord account age, Farcaster connections, Steam game time, GitHub contributions, etc.
Rationale: These activities are difficult for bots to replicate. For example, it’s highly unlikely for a bot account to have 1,000 hours of Steam game time—only real human can achieve this organically.
Medallions Available: You can earn Android, Humanoid, or Cyborg medallions in this category.
Example: An old Twitter account could get you a Cyborg, while a newer one might get you an Android.
Proof of Uniqueness:
Metrics: Verification through KYC on platforms like Binance, Coinbase, or OKX, Worldcoin verification and holding a “human” role in Analog’s Discord.
Rationale: Getting a KYCed account is tough and expensive. It’s one of the most conventional ways to verify identity, but it comes at the cost of privacy.
Medallions Available: KYC-verification can get you a Human medallion, while other unique metrics may earn you a Cyborg.
Proof of Rewards:
Metrics: Eligibility for airdrops from platforms like Linea, Arbitrum, zkSync, Uniswap, or Optimism.
Rationale: These companies did conduct their own PoH checks before distributing airdrops, ensuring reliability and authenticity.
Medallions Available: Cyborg or Humanoid medallions only.
NFT Holders:
Metrics: Ownership of established NFTs like Pudgy Penguins, Doodles, Azuki, CryptoPunks, or Bored Apes.
Rationale: Holding these NFTs signals genuine involvement and since these are very expensive the chances of a bot actor getting these is highly unlikely.
Medallions Available: Each blue-chip NFT earns you a Cyborg medallion.
Miscellaneous Proofs:
Metrics: Captchas and Intract OG status.
Rationale: Within platform attestations to confirm human status and a captcha because bots freak out when they see one.
Medallions Available: Each captcha or OG status check earns you an Android medallion.
Once you reach a satisfying humanity level (90%+), you can mint an Intract Persona NFT for ~$2. This NFT serves as on-chain proof that you're a verified human. It’s upgradeable for free over the next year, so your humanity score stays current as you complete more quests. This verified persona can even be used across other Web3 protocols.
How Intract Persona Benefited Analog
Community Validation: Analog minted 17354 Persona NFTs, each with 90% or higher humanity. This means, even at the testnet stage, Analog could ensure their community wasn’t just a bunch of bots, but real, engaged users.
Reduced Sybil Attacks: Preliminary estimates show that the percentage of sybil actors reduced by 5x when comparing Analog’s PoH-integrated system to their previous system without PoH.
Proactive Verification: Since the launch, around 100,000 users on Intract have proactively verified their humanity, achieving scores greater than 90%. This proactive verification highlights a strong trend toward authentic user bases in the Web3 space.
Seamless Verification: Over 60% of these users already had their PoH verified on Intract. For them, it was a simple one-click verification process. With Intract’s 12 million+ on-chain user base, this kind of seamless verification across multiple projects will become standard. Verify once, use everywhere. This is the best user experience you can offer.
Rapid Adoption: In just two weeks, about 25% of Analog’s existing users verified their proof of humanity. That’s a substantial chunk of the user base embracing the PoH system quickly.
